Assalamualaikum w.b.t,

Alhamdulillah, as being told before I had already finished my course-Instructional Technology for this semester. Since my first intention of creating this blog was for the requirement of this course, it is suppose to be ended now. However, I think it is better for me to continue this blog since I love writing. Maybe after this, I will include some of my personal views and so on. Hope that this blog will be beneficial for me and other people, insyaAllah..

The Final Class for IT

Alhamdulillah.. I feel a bit relief now after finishing the practical test for Instructional Technology this morning. We had been given time about an hour and thirty minutes to answer and do all the six questions regarding the Excel program that we had learnt in the class before, by using a computer in front of each one of us. This is the first time I had encountered such a practical test instead of having a written paper for the final assessment in educational subject. It is quite interesting for me, since the students have to learn, know and practice what they had already learnt throughout the whole semester for the subject. It means that the students need to really understand the theory and also know how to apply the theory or knowledge they got into the real situation. I think this is the best way to measure the students’ understanding in the class, so that the students are able to apply the knowledge they had learnt theoretically and practically. It seems more fair and square for the students themselves. However, really thanks to Madam Sariah who are willing to come to Kuantan for teaching and guiding us along the semester. May Allah bless you always, Madam. Thank you so much. =)

Windows Movie Maker & Adobe Photoshop

Windows Movie Maker is a program designed to capture audio and video from a video camera to computer. The captured content is then used in making a movie. We can import our existing audio, video or even picture into Windows Movie Maker to use in our video created by our own. After creating the movie, we can save it and also share the movie with others either by sending it in e-mail or sending it to the Web, such as Blogger and Youtube.

Windows Movie Maker is suitable to be used in education because it promotes an enjoyable and interesting video for class learning. The beautiful animation and caption in Windows Movie Maker will grab the students’ attention in learning and motivating students to understand much better rather than traditional method of teaching. Windows Movie Maker can enhance the students’ interest and help them in understanding the basic concept of certain subject such as Mathematics and Science. It is really exciting for the students to be taught by using technology such as Windows Movie Maker rather than chalk and talk only.

On the other hand, Adobe Photoshop is software designed for professional image-editing. Adobe Photoshop provides varieties of application or tools such as the brush tool, the pencil tool, the clone stamp tool, the healing tool and many more for editing images. One can become creative and generate his or her own income just by knowing and applying this software. The knowledge and experience of using Adobe Photoshop can really become a valuable benefit in one’s life. This also will be an enjoyable profession or hobby for oneself.

However, every good side will have its bad side. As I experienced while dealing with Windows Movie Maker, I encountered problem to run this program smoothly. It took such a long time to import picture or video and sometimes this program became hanging for several minutes. To avoid taking any risk, I had to save every single work that I have done from time to time.

Whereas, I did not encounter any problem while dealing with Adobe Photoshop, unless it took me some time to understand and learn many tools provided. I feel lucky to have a kind lecturer teaching and guiding me because I felt that it was a bit difficult to learn it alone at the first time. It really needs time to adapt and be familiar with all the tools and I believe that experience will be very helpful in dealing software like Adobe Photoshop.

By the time I had learnt Adobe Photoshop, I realize that there is one disadvantage of this software that is the varieties of tools provided can make other irresponsible people to misuse it. For example, the lasso and move tools which could be used in editing image of one person and create a new picture of the person being in different place. Although this modification looks simple, it could really create a problem to the person in the situation. Therefore, it is important for everybody who learns technology to use and practice the knowledge acquired in the right place.
