Iron Deficiency
Yesterday, I went for blood donation at IIUM mosque. Unluckily, after the blood test the doctor said that I can’t donate blood. It’s because my blood has low iron level. Oh, I was so frustrated at that time! Then, I went back to mahallah and did some research on that: what happen if someone has low iron level.. and what are the symptoms? And you know what, I was not only getting the answer for my low iron level, but also the answer for other sickness as well.
Iron has long been known to be important for red blood cell function because of its fundamental role in the hemoglobin molecule. Hemoglobin is the molecule that carries oxygen to the tissues from the lungs and returns with carbon dioxide from the cells. It is closely related to myoglobin, which is responsible for energy production in the muscles. Iron is necessary for the red cells to function properly.
These are the symptoms of iron deficiency:
- Anemia
- Tiredness
- Pale skin
- Sleep problems
- “Restless legs”
- Impaired mental/ intellectual function
- Learning, growth and behavioral disturbances in children
- Breathlessness
- Poor body temperature regulation
- Frequent infections
- Some type of deafness
Tips on increasing the content of iron in blood:
- It is a well known fact that iron is best absorbed when you eat meat! So meat should be one of the main sources for recovering your health.
- Certain food or vegetables are known to help your body recover iron better take for example try to eat rich in vitamin C food (fruits & natural juice) or even consider taking pills that contain vitamin C.
- The doctor might recommend to buy from pharmacy iron pills, they also provide a great support for your body so you shouldn’t miss this opportunity to improve your body condition.
- Fruits, natural juice, iron bread, iron cereals, nuts will provide a great support for high iron content. Take advantage of them as much as possible!

Not the Best of Me
- Success is simple. Do what's right, the right way, at the right time.
- One who makes no mistakes makes nothing.
- Experience is the child of thought, and thought is the child of action (Benjamin Disraeli).
- Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world.

Apa pula Seterusnya?
Apapun, perjalanan hidup mesti diteruskan. Pelan A, Pelan B perlu disediakan. Wallahua’lam.

Que Sera Sera
Sunday, 21 November 2010.
Alhamdulillah, I’ve arrived at the university this morning. There are some matters need to be clarified and fixed here. From what my friend has told me, it’s not easy to discuss any problem about it. Our suggestion and complaint will be seen as an objection or negative thinking towards the program. We are trying to do the best actually. Since our intention and effort was misinterpreted, I don’t know what to do now. I need courage, wise and patience to face it. Then, I’ll try to talk and prepare for any risks caused by my own self. Que sera sera, what will be will be…

My Own Sunday
Today is Sunday, the only day that I can rest and enjoy my day. Alhamdulillah, I had already finished my part with The Green Initiative (TGI) program. There was a closing ceremony for TGI last week. I feel a bit relief. Then, what’s next? Moving on, I will proceed with another program – English Reading program. After receiving the approval letter from Jabatan Pelajaran Negeri tomorrow, insyaAllah my team and I will proceed with the marketing (promotion) of the program to primary and secondary schools in Kuantan. Even though we are in the middle of exam week, by hook or by crook we have to continue with the preparation of the program. Luckily I just have three exam papers for this semester. So, I can focus for both – exam and program. This is the moment when I really need to manage my time properly. So far, four of us (including my lecturer and her PA) had finished our proposal and letters for the program. Actually, I had planned to celebrate my Hari Raya Aidiladha in Kuantan because of this program. However, I could not make it since my dear mum insisted me to go back home. She really wants me to be at home on that day. At last, I promised her to go back so that everyone will be happy. Maybe I will just spend two or three days at home before coming back to Kuantan. After the program, another agenda will follow. It will be my younger sister’s convocation. Right after my program, I will go back home, doing my packing and traveling to Shah Alam with my family for the event. I hope everything will go smoothly as I planned. After all those agenda had finished, I really want to have my own rest and do whatever I like… From now on, I will tell myself to hold on and be patient first. The day will come soon…

The Day Comes
This is the last semester for me being a student in this university. So, the subjects that I’ve to take are not so difficult if it is compared to other semester. However, this semester is not easy as predicted. I need to deal with a variety of ‘sharks’ coming in front of me. Sharks? You know what I meant right (if you’ve read my entry about The Japanese Fishermen). I need to deal with different way for different ‘sharks’, or otherwise I’ll surely be eaten by those ‘sharks’. Hehe..
I really feel burned out for the non-academic matters. I feel tired and exhausted with all things around me – people, project, program and social activities. Sometimes, I feel that I’m going to lose my patience towards others. But alhamdulillah so far I’m able to control myself so that it would not hurt my friends’ feeling. I prefer to keep quiet and avoiding to talk with others when I’m in unstable emotion. It is such escapism from turning a bad situation to become worst.
Yesterday, mom called me. She said that she will be having an operation in October. She had already chosen the date for the operation. I don’t know how to describe my feeling when I heard about the news. I really want to go back home. I know that mom will need me to help and take care of her after the operation, but probably I cannot be there at that time. I’ll be having my class during the period of time. Then, what should I do? Mom told me that she will be okay and asked me to pray for her. But I still feel worry. I can just pray that mom will be all right, even though I will not be around…
Attending a Writing Workshop
Sunday, 26 September 2010.Today I woke up from my bed as early as 6 o’clock. It’s a Sunday morning. It was quite difficult for me to have a tight sleep last night. After cleaning and preparing myself, I rush for a Writing Workshop at KOS. This is the first time for me to attend a workshop for creative writing. Actually, I’m not so good in writing but I love writing. Writing makes me feel better and it is even one of my ways to reduce stress.
During the first session, we have been forced by a speaker to write about an event- what we feel about the writing workshop. It took me a long time to write a sentence. Then I realized that it was a long time (about two years ago) when I wrote such a personal journal like this. “Hm, no wonder I have no idea to write…,” I talked to myself. The first session was like an introduction session for me. The speaker encourages us to start writing journal. To be a writer, we have to be a reader. How to be a reader? It means that you have to love books. How to make you fall in love with books? The first tip is to choose something that you like (motivation, romance and so on). The second one is to choose a book that is not so difficult (that means you can easily understand the language and word used).
Moving on, we have had a session for novel and blog writings. We have learnt more about novel writings- the plots and elements. We also learnt on how to make our blog more interesting. The second session makes me recalled back my literature lesson during the school time. The terms like metaphor, personification and simile are really familiar to me at school but unluckily I have already forgotten what we had learnt before. I’m so sorry Cikgu Hasni… I really miss the school time when the teacher asked us to make a role play for each chapter of our novels (Bukit Kepong and Konserto Terakhir). I still can imagine how much I laughed at my friends when they acted especially the guy when they had to act as a female. We enjoyed the class lesson and of course the role play helped us to remember every scene of the novels.
The next session of the Writing Workshop is about poem but I do not participate in this session for some reasons. I enjoy the workshop and it really helps me in writing, yet there are still a lot of things I have to learn and improve in this field. In addition, to be a good writer, I have to be a good reader too.
